At Courage to Caregivers we meet caregivers where they are. Often they come to us confused - frustrated - in crisis. We're in the caregiver burnout prevention business - yet, many caregivers don't reach out until they're already there. They've tried "everything" else and are looking for some new coping strategies for their stress of caregiving.
SO much of what we're working on - wrestling with - rumbling with - TOGETHER - is that we feel STUCK and we want to grow.
Accepting that what we've been doing isn't working is HARD. Realizing that we want to grow and something needs to change is HARD. It takes a lot of courage and strength to reach out and ask for help.
Having a fixed mindset is telling yourself that you (and your loved one) can't change.
Having a growth mindset is reminding yourself that you are a perfectly imperfect perpetual work in progress and that anything is possible.
You may have heard about the importance of growth mindset in the context of teaching and learning - for educators and students. I'm here to tell you - growth mindset is NOT just for kids! It's NEVER too late to cultivate a growth mindset - your brain is like a rubber band and science tells us that you can learn new things. It starts with believing.
You don't get really good at something - anything - without practice. Your brain is a muscle - give your growth mindset a good workout today!
